LOCAL FOOD WORKFORCE
Our Local Food Workforce is a hands-on training program that helps young people (ages 14+) and adults build skills, find jobs, and plan for their futures. Open to participants across the 27 communities of North Central MA, the program brings together small groups for 12-week training sessions that combine real-world experience, career support, and personalized guidance.
Participants gain practical skills related to growing, preparing and distributing local produce – fields that are in high demand across the region. Along the way, they work toward industry-recognized certifications, build confidence, and explore career paths in food, agriculture and nutrition. Strong partnerships with local businesses and community organizations help connect participants to job opportunities and the support they need to succeed.
By the end of the program, participants are better prepared to step into jobs or continue their education – and our communities benefit too. Together, we’re building a stronger local workforce and a more resilient food system for North Central Massachusetts.
